How to cook it · about 50 minutes

  1. Grate the onion on the small holes of a box grater. In a big bowl, soak the breadcrumbs in the milk for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the beef, pork, egg, grated onion, allspice, nutmeg, salt and pepper. Mix with your hands just until combined, then roll into 1-inch balls. You should get about 30.
  3. Melt 1 tbsp of the butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Brown the meatballs in batches for 8 to 10 minutes, turning, until browned all over and cooked through. Set them aside.
  4. Put the noodles on to cook in salted water according to the package.
  5. Melt the rest of the butter in the same skillet, whisk in the flour, and cook 1 minute. Slowly whisk in the broth, then the cream and Worcestershire. Simmer 3 to 4 minutes until it coats a spoon.
  6. Return the meatballs to the gravy and simmer 5 minutes. Taste for salt. Serve over the noodles with a spoonful of lingonberry jam on the side.

Amounts are on the list above — they change with the number of people; the steps do not.
