Korean beef bowls

Twenty minutes, one pan, and it hits the protein without feeling like a diet.

Written for 4. Everything below is scaled to 4.

It lands in the shopping form, where you can edit anything, add to it, and say what you think each thing costs. Nothing is ordered until you send it.

How to cook it · about 20 minutes

  1. Get the rice on first — everything else takes less time than it does.
  2. Brown the beef in a dry hot pan, breaking it up as it goes. Pour off the fat if there is a lot.
  3. Add the grated garlic and ginger and cook 30 seconds, until you can smell them.
  4. Stir in the soy, brown sugar and sesame oil and let it bubble for two minutes until it is glossy and clinging to the meat.
  5. Slice the cucumber and the spring onions.
  6. Build the bowls: rice, beef, cucumber, spring onion, then the sesame seeds and pepper flakes over the top.

Amounts are on the list above — they change with the number of people; the steps do not.
