How to cook it · about 30 minutes

  1. Finely dice the onion and bell pepper and mince the garlic.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium-high heat for 6 minutes, breaking it into small crumbles. Spoon off most of the fat.
  3. Add the onion and bell pepper and cook 5 minutes until soft. Stir in the garlic for 1 minute.
  4. Stir in the tomato sauce, ketchup, Worcestershire, mustard, brown sugar, chili powder, salt and pepper.
  5. Simmer on low for 10 minutes, stirring now and then, until thick enough to pile on a bun without running off. Taste and adjust.
  6. Toast the buns cut-side down in a dry skillet or under the broiler for a minute, then spoon in the filling and serve.
