Meatball subs

Uses a jar of sauce and still tastes like effort. Good for a crowd watching something.

Written for 4. Everything below is scaled to 4.

What goes on the list — untick anything you have

It lands in the shopping form, where you can edit anything, add to it, and say what you think each thing costs. Nothing is ordered until you send it.

How to cook it · about 45 minutes

  1. Mix the beef, sausage, breadcrumbs, egg, grated garlic, parmesan and seasoning. Roll into about sixteen balls.
  2. Brown them in a pan — you are not cooking them through, just colouring the outside.
  3. Tip the sauce in around them, cover, and simmer 20 minutes until cooked through.
  4. Split the rolls without cutting all the way through and toast them cut-side up for two minutes.
  5. Fill, cover with mozzarella, and put them under the broiler until it bubbles and browns in spots.

Amounts are on the list above — they change with the number of people; the steps do not.
