How to cook it · about 25 minutes

  1. Whisk the pudding mix into the cold milk for two minutes, then stir in the condensed milk. Let it stand five minutes to set.
  2. Whip the cream to soft peaks with the vanilla, and fold two thirds of it into the pudding. Fold, do not stir, or you lose the air.
  3. Layer in a glass dish: wafers, sliced banana, pudding. Repeat twice, finishing with pudding.
  4. Spread the rest of the cream over the top and crush a few wafers over it.
  5. Refrigerate at least four hours. The wafers need that time to go soft — that is the whole point of the dish.

Amounts are on the list above — they change with the number of people; the steps do not.
