Shut it off first

Turn off the breaker and check every wire with a non-contact voltage tester before you touch anything. Call a licensed electrician if you find aluminum wiring, no ground wire, scorched or melted wires, or anything that is not a like-for-like swap. Some Arkansas cities require a permit for electrical work, so check with your city if unsure.

Plug a lamp in, turn off breakers until it goes out, and check both halves of the outlet and every wire with the voltage tester.
Take the plate off, unscrew the outlet, and pull it out gently. Photograph how the wires are connected.
Compare what you see with the safety note. No ground wire, aluminum wire, or scorching means stop here.
Connect the new outlet the same way the old one was, following the instructions in the box, and fold the wires back.
Screw it in straight, fit the plate, turn the breaker on, and check it with the plug-in tester.
