Shut it off first

Shut off the water at the valves under the sink and open the faucet to check it is really off before you loosen anything. Call a licensed plumber if a valve will not close all the way, the pipe or valve is corroded, or a connection still leaks after tightening.

Empty the cabinet, shut off both valves under the sink, and open the faucet to let the pressure out and prove the water is off.
Put the bucket under the valves, disconnect the old supply lines, and take a photo of how everything was hooked up.
Undo the nuts holding the old faucet from underneath with the basin wrench, lift it out, and clean the sink deck.
Set the new faucet in place following the instructions in its box, tighten it from below, and connect the supply lines to the same valves.
Turn the valves back on slowly, run the water for a minute, and check every connection with a dry paper towel for a drip.
