Shut it off first
Shut off the water at the valves under the sink and open the faucet to check it is really off before you loosen anything. Call a licensed plumber if a valve will not close, the drain pipe or valve is corroded, or a connection still leaks after tightening.

Clear out the vanity, shut off both valves under the sink, and open the faucet to prove the water is off.
Disconnect the supply lines and the drain stopper linkage, and take a photo of how it all fit together.
Remove the old faucet and the old drain, and scrape the old putty off the sink.
Fit the new drain and faucet following the instructions in the box, then connect the supply lines to the same valves.
Turn the water back on slowly, fill the basin and let it drain, and check underneath with a dry paper towel for drips.
