Project book · an afternoon

Paint an accent wall

One wall, one color, one afternoon. The easiest change a room can get.

How big is the wall? Width times height.

square feet

This fits in a car

About 28 lb of materials. Comfortably inside what a car carries (200 lb), so any shopper can take it. ⚠️ 1 item on the list has no weight on file, so the real load is a little heavier than this.

How it goes · about an afternoon · beginner

  1. Pick the wall your eye lands on first when you walk in, usually behind the bed.
  2. Pull the furniture away and tape the corners, the ceiling line and the baseboard.
  3. Prime if the new color is much darker or lighter than the old one.
  4. Cut in the edges, roll the middle, and put on a second coat when the first is dry.
  5. Pull the tape while the last coat is still slightly soft.
