Before you start
Do not touch the springs, the cables or the tracks. A torsion spring holds enough energy to injure somebody badly and is only ever adjusted with the right bars by somebody who does it for a living. Adding weight can also put a door out of balance — if it no longer stays put halfway, call a door company rather than adjusting it yourself.

Measure each panel — they are not always the same size top to bottom.
Cut each piece about an inch oversize so it holds itself in the frame of the panel.
Push the panels in behind the retainer clips the kit supplies, foil side facing into the garage.
Tape the seams with the foil tape.
Change the bottom seal and the jamb seals while you are there — the gap round the edge leaks more than the panel does.
