My car is due for an oil change

The oil-change reminder is on, or the sticker on the windshield says it is time. Here is what to pick up.

Likely causes — tick the parts you want

  1. The oil change interval has come up

    How to check: Compare the mileage on your last oil-change sticker or receipt with the odometer, or check the oil-life reading on the dash.

  2. The oil level is low between changes

    possible · Most people can do this

    How to check: Check the dipstick on level ground with the engine off a few minutes. If it reads below the low mark, add oil before the change.

Be careful

Hot oil can burn — let the engine cool before draining. Never get under a car held up only by a jack — set it on jack stands on flat, solid ground and chock the wheels that stay down.

Your car — the counter needs this

If the counter doesn’t have a part, your shopper asks them to order it under your name and messages you the order number. When it comes in, send someone to collect it.
